Machu Picchu Ticket Release Dates: When Can You Book?
Updated
Check Machu Picchu ticket release dates, missing months, phased openings and payment status. Prepare your route and group before committing to transport.
Quick answer
- When do 2027 Machu Picchu tickets go on sale? The evidence reviewed on 24 October 2026 does not establish an official release date; check the latest Ministry notice and Tu Boleto.
- A missing future month can be unreleased, not sold out. Check the official notice and your exact product before changing plans.
- Agency advance payments and train sales do not prove that government admission has been issued.
- Verify the named route, entry time and enough places for the whole group—not just a general availability headline.
- How far ahead you can buy depends on the released travel dates, not a fixed 30-, 60- or 90-day window. Follow the current checkout deadline.
Machu Picchu ticket release dates follow the Ministry of Culture’s schedule for the visiting year, not one permanent annual opening day. Match the official notice to your travel period, product and named route. A calendar that does not show your future month is not enough evidence that admission is sold out.
For 2027 planning, the material reviewed here does not establish a confirmed official admission-release date. Competitor predictions about late 2026 are forecasts, not dates to base nonrefundable commitments on. Use this guide to prepare your choices and distinguish a request, a payment and an issued ticket; verify the latest official notice before purchase.
2027 ticket release status: what is actually established?
Reviewed 24 October 2026: our retrieved evidence does not establish a current official 2027 citadel-opening calendar. That is a limit of this review, not a categorical statement that the Ministry has made no announcement. Search results and seller articles can be incomplete or retain an older check date.
The Ministry’s September 2026 direct-payment FAQ, questions 3 and 5, describes buying available dates through 31 December 2026. It does not establish a 2027 opening. That document describes a 30-day pilot, so it is dated evidence rather than proof of the checkout procedure in force today.
The DDC Machupicchu online-purchase page directs visitors to Tu Boleto. Check that platform and Ministry notices for the applicable visiting year. If an agency says ‘2027 booking is open’, ask whether it means advance enquiries, conditional deposits, train sales or issued government admission. Those are different statuses.
- Citadel admission: obtain the current official notice and check your visit date, named route and entry time.
- Inca Trail: verify the separate trail product, departure date, permit and included Machu Picchu visit.
- Train tickets: a bookable train is transport availability, not evidence of released archaeological admission.
My future month is missing: unreleased, sold out or a website problem?
First ask whether the official schedule covers your travel period. If not established, label the status ‘release not verified’, rather than ‘sold out’. If your period is covered, confirm you selected the correct attraction, year, named route and time. A seasonal route, disabled calendar or loading error needs a different response from an exhausted slot.
When the exact selection is unavailable, compare another time on the same route and acceptable nearby dates. An available place elsewhere does not allow you to switch circuits inside the site. For a genuine shortage, use the sold-out ticket options; do not buy an unsuitable replacement merely because its date is clickable.
- No verified schedule for your period: release not verified; do not label the whole month sold out.
- Wrong year, product or disabled calendar: correct the selection or retry the official platform before judging inventory.
- Dates covered but your exact route/time unavailable: check acceptable alternatives and enough places for your whole party.
- Date selectable: availability at that moment, not admission issued to you.
Sales have started: does the release include my travel dates?
A process-launch headline does not necessarily open every month together. Read the notice, attached schedule and later amendments as a set. Match the row covering your actual visit dates; a schedule for the Inca Trail is not automatically the schedule for a train-based citadel visit.
Record the fields below before treating a reported date as actionable. If a source provides no year, no covered travel period or no underlying official notice, it is insufficient for a fixed purchase plan. Do not fill gaps by copying another seller’s calendar.
- Visiting year and exact product.
- Covered visit dates or travel-month row.
- Purchase opening date, stated opening time and time zone.
- Current checkout and payment instructions, including any deadline actually shown.
- Official source, publication date, amendments and when you checked it.
Historical 2026 opening: why last year is not a 2027 deadline
The Ministry’s 17 November 2025 announcement began the 2026 sales process. It stated 8:00 a.m. for the Inca Trail and noon for the Llaqta and linked separate reservation and payment schedules. This establishes a historical launch, not simultaneous availability for every travel date or a recurring opening on 17 November.
Historical schedules can help explain phased releases, but do not transplant their reservation holds, opening hours or payment cutoffs into a current booking. The retrieved Ministry notice does not establish current 2027 procedures. Read the instructions governing the transaction you are making now, including any later changes.
How far in advance can you buy Machu Picchu tickets?
You can buy when the official sales schedule and platform make your visit date purchasable. This review establishes no fixed rolling 30-, 60- or 90-day release window. ‘How far ahead can I buy?’ is about the open calendar; ‘how early should I book?’ is about your flexibility and currently available choices.
Prepare before your preferred period opens, especially when your dates or route are inflexible. There is no universal three-, six- or twelve-month lead time that guarantees a suitable ticket. Competitor lead-time tables are planning recommendations, not observed inventory for your date or official deadlines.
Set your first-choice visit and realistic alternatives before purchase becomes possible. Decide whether date, named route, time or staying together matters most. Use the circuit comparison to identify the experience you want without turning this release guide into a second route-selection page.
Whole-group availability: approve alternatives before release
Check enough places for all travelers in the intended route and slot. Two remaining places do not secure a group of four. Different entry times or routes may mean separate visits; do not assume everyone can meet inside and complete the same itinerary.
Tell whoever books whether to pause if only part of the group fits, look for another shared option or purchase separately. Give explicit permission for substitutions. For mixed ages or student categories, resolve the applicable proof before issue with the student-discount guide. Initial planning needs document status, not copies of everyone’s identity documents.
- Preferred date, named route and entry time for each traveler.
- Acceptable alternatives in priority order.
- Must the group stay together? Is separate purchase authorized?
- Any category or passport-renewal question still unresolved.
Payment deadline and Peru time: follow the current transaction
Use the deadline and time zone shown in the applicable instructions or checkout. Peru local time is UTC−5; convert a stated Peru-time cutoff to your location, taking your own daylight-saving rules into account. Do not assume a seller’s deposit deadline or your bank’s timestamp is the government deadline.
The Ministry’s September 2026 direct-payment FAQ describes a 15-minute purchase-and-payment window and the end of several-hour unpaid reservations for new transactions. It also says the pilot lasts 30 days. These are the documented pilot rules, not a verified permanent deadline or a 2027 procedure; follow the live checkout timer and any later official instructions.
Older reservation-and-payment schedules are not a promise that you can hold a place today. If current checkout requires immediate payment or displays a countdown, follow those instructions rather than a previous year’s table. A failed transaction does not establish an extension, a preserved place or a future refund.
Released inventory is not the same as issued admission
An announced opening establishes when the applicable inventory can be requested or purchased; it does not confirm that your own admission has been issued. Verify the final ticket for each traveler, date, named route and entry time. A bank charge or agency receipt alone is not an issued ticket. For payment errors or a charge without a ticket, use the payment troubleshooting guidance.
Do not make duplicate purchases or publish QR codes and identity numbers while resolving an unclear status. For planning services around existing admission, use the already-booked ticket guide.
An agency wants payment before release: what does it secure?
Ask for a written distinction between itinerary planning, supplier reservations, a conditional admission request and issued government tickets. An agency may accept a future-trip payment without having obtained admission. That does not establish priority access, extra capacity or a guaranteed preferred circuit.
Before paying, clarify which services are confirmed, which remain pending, the treatment of service fees, the permitted alternatives and what happens if the requested admission cannot be obtained. These are terms to request, not our published refund promise. Read the changes and refunds guide before relying on a seller’s word ‘booked’.
Fixed travel dates before release: what remains unconfirmed?
Flights, hotels and train reservations do not establish that admission has been released for your visit. List every feasible visit date within your existing itinerary, then verify whether the official release schedule covers those dates. Until admission is issued, treat dependent arrangements according to their own change and cancellation conditions.
Plan the admission date, named route and entry time first, check that your transport can support that choice, then verify issued admission before committing to restrictive bookings where practical. Use the ticket buying guide for detailed purchase sequencing and train coordination. Compare the day trip and two-day train tour against your confirmed entry and actual schedules.
Inca Trail permit release is a separate check
Do not transfer a citadel announcement, train sales date or agency early-booking promotion to Classic or Short Inca Trail permits. Verify the relevant product, departure date, permit status and the Machu Picchu visit included in that itinerary through the Inca Trail permit guide. Historical openings can share a day while still using different schedules.
A trek is not interchangeable with a citadel-only ticket. Fitness, guiding, trail permission and transport must all work. Do not assume Km 104 is a guaranteed escape from sold-out entry or that a trail permit adds every circuit or mountain. Confirm the actual included route before choosing a fallback.
Request a dated release-status check and itemized quote
Send your visiting year, date range, group size, preferred named route, acceptable alternatives and existing commitments. Ask for the source and time checked, what is pending, and what document proves any issued admission. Availability can change after a check; an enquiry is not a reservation or an unattended monitoring service.
Request itemized admission, transport, guide, accommodation if relevant, charges and payment conditions. Keep passport numbers, scans and full birth dates out of the first enquiry. If identity documents are later required, verify the recipient and sharing method first. The citations below establish the official purchase destination and historical launch; they do not certify live 2027 inventory or the absence of a newer announcement.

Ask on WhatsAppMachu Picchu Ticket Release Dates: When Can You Book?: FAQ
When do 2027 Machu Picchu tickets go on sale?
The evidence reviewed on 24 October 2026 does not establish a confirmed official 2027 admission-release date. Check the latest Ministry notice and Tu Boleto for your travel period. Late-2026 predictions and agency advance bookings are not proof of released admission.
How far in advance can I buy Machu Picchu tickets?
When the applicable official schedule and platform open your visit date for purchase. This review establishes no fixed 30-, 60- or 90-day rolling window. Being ready early is useful, but neither a seller’s recommended lead time nor a previous year’s opening date confirms your month is released.
Will canceled or unpaid tickets become available again?
Do not plan around a promised daily restock or a particular returned slot. The September 2026 FAQ describes a one-time release of previously blocked unpaid reservations, not a recurring public restock calendar. Recheck current official availability; a failed payment or cancellation does not guarantee a place will become available to you.
Can I reserve admission unpaid for several hours?
Do not rely on older reservation tables. The Ministry’s September 2026 pilot FAQ describes direct purchase with payment within 15 minutes instead of several-hour unpaid reservations. The document says the pilot lasts 30 days; the current checkout and later official instructions determine the transaction you make now.
Why is my future month not showing on Tu Boleto?
It may be unreleased, seasonal, unavailable for your selected route or affected by a website issue. First check whether the official schedule covers your year and travel dates. A missing month alone does not prove that all admission is sold out.
Do all travel months open together?
Do not assume so. Read the covered dates and any phased rows in the applicable official schedule, alongside amendments and current checkout instructions. A process-launch headline does not establish availability for every month.
Will 2027 tickets open on 17 November?
Not established here. The Ministry began the 2026 sales process on 17 November 2025. That historical launch is not a recurring annual date or a confirmed 2027 schedule.
Does buying a 2027 train ticket confirm Machu Picchu entry?
No. A train is a separate transport booking. Verify issued admission for the appropriate traveler, date, named route and entry time, then check the train connection.
Does an agency deposit mean admission is issued?
Not necessarily. Ask what is confirmed, what remains conditional on government inventory and what happens if the requested ticket cannot be obtained. A deposit receipt is not an issued admission document.
Which time zone should I use for an opening or payment cutoff?
Use the time zone stated in the current official instructions or checkout. Peru local time is UTC−5. Do not assume your bank timestamp or an agency deadline is the government cutoff, or that an old calendar still applies.
Does a release announcement mean my admission is confirmed?
No. It establishes the applicable sales opening, not your own ticket issuance. Verify the final admission document for every traveler, date, named route and entry time. A bank charge or agency receipt alone is not proof of issued admission.
Can our whole group enter together if tickets are available?
General availability does not confirm space for your whole group. Check that enough places are available for every traveler on the same named route and entry time, and verify those details on each issued ticket. Agree beforehand whether to pause, choose another shared option or allow separate purchases if part of the group cannot fit.
Are Inca Trail permits released with citadel tickets?
Verify each product separately. A historical common launch date does not establish identical opening times, covered departure dates or current payment procedures. A citadel ticket or train reservation does not confirm a trail permit.
Still have a question?

An enquiry does not reserve admission or enroll you in automatic alerts. Keep identity documents, ticket QR codes and payment details out of the first message.
